A man has been charged with shoot with intent to murder following an alleged domestic violence related-incident north of Coffs Harbour overnight.
Strike Force Canova was formed after a 22-year-old man was critically injured when allegedly shot in the chest at a home on Orara Way, Nana Glen, about 8.30pm yesterday (Saturday 9 August 2025).
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital, where he's reported to be in a critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery.
Officers attached to Coffs-Clarence Police District were told the man was injured following an argument with another man, known to him.
About 30 minutes later, officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped an SUV on Carrall Close, Coffs Harbour, and arrested a 20-year-old man. A rifle was seized when the vehicle was searched. It's been taken for a forensic examination.
That man was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with six offences,
- Shoot with intent to murder (DV)
- Possess unauthorised firearm
- Use unauthorised firearm
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority
- Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic), and
- Drive with middle-range PCA.
He's been refused bail to appear via AVL in Bail Division Court 1 later today.
