Cold case homicide arrest at Robina, QLD

Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Investigation Unit have arrested two men following the murder of Phillip Carlyle at Robina in 1997, Queensland Police say.

Phillip Carlyle was located in the plant room of a Glenferrie Drive business on Sunday, April 13 with severe head injuries, which a post mortem later revealed as being from four gunshot wounds.

Since the initial investigation in 1997, investigators have sought to identify those responsible for his murder.

In 2016, the cold case investigation was reopened as part of Operation Carye endeavouring to identify new evidence and find those responsible for Mr Carlyle’s murder.

A 68-year-old Robina man and a 66-year-old Reedy Creek man are now in police custody after being arrested by detectives this morning.
