Cold comfort for supporters of coal-fired power

Australian Conservatives Release

Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi says Prime Minister Scott Morrison's pledge to upgrade a NSW coal-fired power station is just tinkering around the edges ahead of the May federal election.

The pledge is among a dozen energy projects the Coalition will consider underwriting to deliver on its promise to deliver more reliable and affordable power.

Cabinet has whittled expressions of interest from 66 energy projects down to a shortlist of 12, which it will consider further before making a final decision.

Senator Bernardi has told Paul Murray Live on Sky News the power generators aren't serious about reducing power prices either.
