The access road leading to the Collers Beach car park in Mollymook will be closed for several months following concerns about the road's wooden bridge which runs over a stormwater drain.
A routine engineering inspection revealed termite damage and structural issues making vehicle access unsafe. The access road was closed immediately following an independent engineering assessment and Council will now work with civil engineers to develop a plan for repair or replacement.
Rest assured the road remains open to pedestrians for now. When works start next year Council will update the community on any changes to pedestrian access. Parking remains available at the popular nearby swimming spot, the Bogey Hole.
A project page has been developed to keep the community up-to-date on the progress of works. At this stage, the access road could be closed for up to six months.
