Detectives from Major Collision Investigation Unit are currently at the scene of a serious crash which occurred in Epping this morning.
Emergency services were called to High Street about 12am after reports that a motorcycle had collided with another vehicle.
The driver and vehicle left the scene but a man attended a short time later and told police that he was the driver.
He is currently assisting investigators with their enquires.
The rider of the motorcycle, believe to be a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or with dash cam footage to contact police.
