Four volunteer advisory committees have been appointed for the current term of Council in accordance with section 355 of the NSW Local Government Act. These are the Balcombe Heights Estate, Castle Hill Showground, Heritage Park and Bushland Conservation committees.

Advisory committees are delegated with authority to provide information to Council on issues for the place or program they represent and to make recommendations. They may also be called on to offer input into facility planning.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi said Council encourages residents to be involved in their community and becoming a volunteer member of an advisory committee was a way of contributing their time and expertise.

"A total of 34 community representatives nominated for committees and I congratulate everyone on their appointment," Mayor Gangemi said.

Mayor Gangemi said advisory committees also play an important role in fostering positive relationships between Council and the community.

"Council highly values the work of all volunteers. I welcome the members of these four important advisory committees and I am looking forward to seeing their input on our assets and programs during this term of Council," he said.

"We are thankful to be able to utilise the experience and perspectives of our volunteers to further improve our Shire," he added.
