As part of Queensland Multicultural Month, Commissioner Ian Stewart celebrated cultural diversity at the annual Queensland Police Service (QPS) Multi Faith Community Dinner.

Commissioner Ian Stewart said the annual Multi Faith Community Dinner had become an important date on the calendar since 2008 when the first event was held.

"This very community is made up of 220 different community groups, all culturally and linguistically diverse," Commissioner Stewart said.

"In total, these community groups speak over 150 languages and practice as many as 130 different faiths.

"This is a unique event that allows QPS members, government and other agency representatives the chance to sit down together and share a meal with important members who help form our diverse community.

"The QPS is continually striving to provide the best possible police service to all members of the community regardless of culture, faith, gender or background and tonight is confirmation of this inclusive approach.

"Our service can only be as good as relationships that are forged through dialogue and partnership.

"Multicultural Month is a great time to celebrate the significant contribution and achievements of this wide cross-section of the community."
