Community grants Program opening Monday

The second round of the Griffith City Council Community Grant Program for 2019/2020 financial year opens Monday 17 February 2020, with community groups, not-for-profit and charitable organisations or individuals encouraged to submit an application.

Applications are welcome for projects and activities which can demonstrate they will deliver new initiatives which align with Councils' Strategic Plan – Guiding Griffith 2040.

Chair of the Communities Committee, Councillor Dino Zappacosta said the Community Grant Program offers local organisations and individuals the opportunity to obtain funds to initiate new activities or support projects that benefit the community.

"During the first round of 2019/20 Council supported 8 organisations and five individuals through the grant process worth more than $13,000," said Councillor Zappacosta.

"There have been many standout applications over the years which Council has supported and we encourage more innovative ideas."

"Each round is highly competitive with many applications received and we have staff available in the Community Development Team who can provide advice which could assist to strengthen your application," he added.

Two FREE Information Session will be held at Griffith City Council, 1 Benerembah Street, Thursday 5 March, 12noon and Wednesday 11 March, 5.30pm. The sessions are open to all community groups and individuals who would like information about addressing the criteria in the application form.

"We understand the application process can be daunting, particularly for those who are unfamiliar with grant writing," said Community Development Coordinator, Peta Dummett.

"These one hour information sessions will guide potential applicants through the process and explain how to complete the Community Grant submission. If you are considering applying in this round and would like to discuss your idea I would recommend you come along to one of the sessions."

The Community Grant Program will close Friday 20 March 2020 at 4pm. Late applications will not be accepted. Application Forms including the Program Guidelines can be found at www.griffith.nsw.gov.au/grants or by contacting Council on 6962 8100.
