The community is being invited to help shape the future of health, fitness and aquatic programs at the new Mordi Aquatic Centre, with consultation now open on the types of activities, services and experiences people want to see when the centre opens in early 2027.
The consultation, titled "Move Your Way", is seeking feedback from residents of all ages and abilities to help ensure the new facility delivers a wide range of flexible and accessible programs that reflect the needs and interests of the Kingston community.
The new Mordi Aquatic Centre will feature four pools, gym and fitness facilities, wellness spaces including sauna and steam room, and a range of community-focused amenities designed to support health and wellbeing outcomes for years to come.
Mayor Georgina Oxley said Council wanted to hear directly from the community about how they would like to use the new centre.
"We are building this centre for our community, so it's incredibly important that the programs and services offered reflect what people want and need," Cr Oxley said.
"We know that health and wellbeing looks different for everyone. For some people it might be lap swimming or rehabilitation programs, for others it could be group fitness classes, learn-to-swim opportunities, social connection or simply having a welcoming place to move and stay active.
"Our goal is to create a vibrant and inclusive facility with something for everyone; a centre that offers flexibility, variety and high levels of community use from day one.
"The Mordi Aquatic Centre is one of the biggest investments Kingston has ever made in community infrastructure, and this consultation is another important opportunity for residents to help shape its future."
Insights from this consultation may also help guide future programs at Waves Leisure Centre.
