The Shire is celebrating a strong year of community impact, with applications opening soon for the 2026-27 Community Investment Funding Program.
This year, Council is offering more than $4 million to support projects, events, services and initiatives that benefit communities across the Peninsula.
In 2025-26, Council invested $3.97 million through awarding 137 grants, 98 subsidies and 14 sponsorships, supporting more than 250 local initiatives and services.
Projects and services were supported by more than 722,000 volunteer hours.
These projects and services highlight how Community Investment Funding empowers local organisations and volunteers to create significant value and positive outcomes for communities across the Peninsula.
Mayor Cr Stephen Batty said "The success of the program reflects the combined contribution of Council and the volunteers who bring projects and services to life.
"Council provides funding however, it is the dedication of local volunteers and community organisations that turns those opportunities into outcomes that benefit our community.
"Last year, funded organisations contributed more than 722,000 volunteer hours, demonstrating the remarkable commitment of people who give their time to support others", he said.
"With applications opening on 13 July, we encourage community groups to bring forward ideas that will continue to make a positive difference in our communities."
Funding will be available across six grant programs that support community participation, deliver local events, improve infrastructure, fund essential life-saving equipment, and environmental initiatives.
Targeted sponsorships are also available, while subsidy recipients support the delivery of essential local services.
The application process features clear eligibility criteria and streamlined questions to help applicants identify the most suitable funding program for their needs.
Community Investment Funding aligns with the Shire's three strategic directions in the Council Plan 2025-2029: Place, People and Prosperity.
From Monday 13 July, the following funding programs will open:
- Community Support, Placemaking Grants and Flexi Grants
- Community Events
- Biolink Support Grants
- Local Area Community Capital Infrastructure Grants
- Senior Citizens Festival Subsidy
- Commemorative Events Subsidy
Eligible applicants include incorporated associations and community groups based on the Mornington Peninsula. Charities and Not-For-Profit organisations need to meet the eligibility criteria.
Applications open from Monday 13 July, with many grants remaining available throughout the year or until funding is exhausted.
