Residents are invited to register to attend a Community Conversation, or go online in their own time, to have their say on the draft Community Strategic Plan that will help shape the future of the Tweed.
Every Council term, the community has an opportunity to influence the long-term plan for the Tweed and set the vision for the future they would like to see. These aspirations are then embedded into a Community Strategic Plan.
Last drafted in 2017, Council has now reviewed the Plan to make sure it continues to reflect the community's priorities for the future of the Tweed, especially as the Tweed's population is expected to grow by around 35,000 people over the next 20 years.
Mayor of Tweed Chris Cherry said the Tweed was a highly desirable place to live and its growth must be well managed.
"Our challenge is to accommodate this population growth with adequate infrastructure and services without compromising our internationally significant natural environment or the relaxed lifestyle we love," Cr Cherry said.
"We also recognise the need to ensure everyone in our community has access to an affordable place to live."
The primary purpose of the Community Strategic Plan is to document the Tweed community's priorities for the next decade and to define Council's related goals, strategies, actions and targets. It is one of Council's most important strategic documents and will guide all other Council plans and strategies.
"This plan has been shaped by our community and belongs to the community – it represents our shared vision and priorities for the next decade," Cr Cherry said.
"The draft Community Strategic Plan is on public exhibition until 6 June. I invite the Tweed community to review the document, come to one of our Community Conversations and make comment before it is finalised."

- Kingscliff 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, Wednesday 25 May
- Murwillumbah 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm, Thursday 26 May
