Council, with support from industry experts, will develop the city's first Music Action Plan.
This plan aims to identify ways in which Council can collaborate with local venues, artists, businesses to help enrich the music scene in the City of Logan.
City Lifestyle Chair Councillor Laurie Koranski said people of all ages enjoyed live music performances and the industry was a major driver of jobs and investment in
the community.
"Logan City Council has hosted our Logan Live celebration of music since 2018 to foster and promote local talent," Cr Koranski said.
"We are proud to support new and emerging talent."
The live music scene has been deeply impacted over the past year by pandemic restrictions.
"There have been lockdowns, restrictions on venue capacities and border controls limiting touring," Cr Koranski said.
"Council wants to help the industry, especially in the City of Logan, find new ways forward. We need community support and want to hear their thoughts."
Two surveys have been launched online to capture the experience of local music industry workers and artists along with lovers of live music.
Completing the surveys will help to ensure music remains an integral part of the community.
The surveys, just one part of an extensive consultation process guided by industry expert Craig Spann, can be accessed at Music Action Plan surveys
Craig, a writer and artist who grew up in Beenleigh, has developed government strategies and projects to support the music industry while co-managing an independent record label and music company.
Workshops, a local industry forum and one-on-one meetings with artists, venues and those locally who work in the sector are also planned.
