Locals will now have a quick and easy way to report issues, find information, and use Council services online with the launch of the new Community Portal system on Council’s website.
Council conducted public trials of the Portal at pop-up sites around the city in September 2022 before spending the next few months refining the system in line with feedback.
The portal will allow users to report a wide variety of problems such as dangerous trees, potholes, vandalism, graffiti, illegal dumping, and more.
It will also allow users to request Council services such as green waste pick-ups or extra bin collections, and will provide links to other online services and useful information.
Council’s General Manager, Jay Nankivell, said the portal would offer residents more flexibility in interacting with Council.
“Our primary aim is to allow people to be able to report issues at any time of the day online, rather than having to contact Council in business hours,” he said.
“It will also improve the reporting of issues to staff, meaning they’ll be able to attend to jobs in a more timely fashion.”
Although the portal has already launched, Mr Nankivell said Council would continue to improve the system in the coming months and years.
“The portal will be a great standalone resource for the staff and public, but the challenge now is to further integrate it into Council’s other existing systems,” he said.
“We’ll look at add more levels of connectivity on our end to further streamline reporting and actioning of issues, thereby providing better service to ratepayers.”

In order to avoid duplication of tasks, residents who have already lodged an issue with Council are asked not to re-lodge their issue using the new portal.
