Bega Valley Shire Council reminds community and volunteer groups the application process to formally propose projects on Council-owned or managed land will close on Friday 17 March.

Council's Parks, Aquatics and Recreation Manager, John Grady said major Community Project Proposals (CPP) are considered by Council annually in conjunction with development of its annual Operational Plan.

"CPPs can range from simple park furniture replacement to major infrastructure projects," Mr Grady said.

"Major projects are projects that will create new assets, result in changed use of an area, require resourcing and support from Council or are complex in terms of planning requirements and approvals.

"Community Project Proposal applications ask the applicant to consider planning, design and standards, accessibility, heritage, the environment, site management and safety, stakeholder consultation and ongoing asset management.

"This information helps Council to consider the resource requirements of proposed major projects in conjunction with other planned and programmed Council projects.

"As Council's funding is limited, most Community Project Proposals are required to be fully externally funded.

"Getting 'In Principle' support through the CPP process is the first step needed before putting effort into submitting external funding applications."
