Statement on behalf of the La Trobe University Vice-Chancellor.
I want to add my voice to the outpouring of public support for Dr Helen Haines, Federal Member for Indi. Violence has no place in public life or in our communities.
I join many others in utterly condemning this brutal attack.
Helen is an incredibly dedicated, passionate and hardworking representative for her constituency, a highly respected and effective champion for her community, and a longstanding and valued partner of our university.
On behalf of La Trobe University, I extend our deepest support to Helen, her family and the wider Indi community during this very difficult time.
