Community Recycling Centres reopening

Inner West Council

The Leichardt and St Peters Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) and the Leichhardt weekend transfer station will reopen to the public on Saturday 18 September.

"These important recycling services are for certain waste items that can't go in your household bins," said Inner West Mayor Rochelle Porteous.

"That could include electronic waste items, chemicals, bulky household items, sharps and other items that are hard to recycle.

"Councils have been requesting the NSW Government allow reopening of these services because putting these items in your household bin can be dangerous.

"It's good to see that the NSW Government has decided to allow us to recontinue our critical waste services for the community," Mayor Porteous said.

The reopening will be COVID-safe. Mask wearing will be compulsory and anyone dropping off materials is asked to remain in their vehicle.

CRCs accept some common chemicals and electronic waste that can be dropped off for free.
