The Moira Shire community is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life in a motor vehicle crash at Muckatah, south of Cobram, on 15 December 2025.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said any road accident causing death or injury is a tragedy, but coming only 10 days before Christmas the loss is even harder to comprehend.
"Our thoughts are with those who died or were injured, their loved ones and everyone in the community who will be impacted by this terrible event," Dr Emonson said.
"Our thoughts are also with our first responders and Victoria Police who deal with these tragedies on our roads far too often. Our deepest thanks for their service."
Dr Emonson said it was a busy time on the region's roads, with agricultural equipment on the move during harvest season and extra visitors for Christmas and school holidays.
"We want everyone who lives and works in Moira Shire, and all our visitors, to leave their homes safely in the morning and arrive home again safely at night," he said.
"Road safety is everyone's responsibility. Even one life lost is one too many."
Dr Emonson said Victoria Police had not yet released information on the identities of the victims.
