Hawkesbury City Council has received $150,000 in grant funding to deliver a creative communications campaign in Windsor, focused on improving the experiences and safety for women, girls and gender-diverse people in public spaces.
The project will focus on George Street, Windsor, specifically between Windsor Train Station and Hawkesbury Central Library. The project will celebrate the stories, achievements and lived experiences of local women, girls and gender-diverse people, reflecting the Hawkesbury's cultural identity and deep connections to Country. It will be developed and refined in conversation with our community partners, as well as workshops and pop-up trials of concepts where the community will be provided with an opportunity to interact and provide feedback on the ideas and designs.
This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government, through Transport for NSW's Safer Cities: Her Way 2 grant program.
Council invites people who live, work, study, or visit Windsor to provide feedback and insights via an online survey to help inform the campaign. Your everyday experiences and observations can help us better understand what makes Windsor feel welcoming and comfortable, and where there may be opportunities for improvement.
Minister for Transport John Graham said, "It is incredibly important for people to feel safe while walking along local streets, no matter what time of day it is.
