Australian stories will be even more accessible thanks to an investment from the Albanese Government.

Developed with the support of the Albanese Government, the new CTV+ streaming app for smart TVs means community television is more available than ever before.

The Albanese Government delivered $386,000 through its Community Broadcasting Program to support CTV+, making diverse voices, local content and real stories more accessible than ever.

The Community Broadcasting Program (CBP) provides vital funding to the sector - including radio and television - delivering more than $24 million each year to support community broadcasters across the country.

The launch of the new CTV+ app also coincides with this year's Antenna Awards, the national celebration of excellence in community television.

This year beloved C31 alumni Hamish & Andy will be inducted into the Community TV Hall of Fame, recognising their remarkable journey from community television beginnings to becoming two of Australia's most successful broadcasters.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Communications, Anika Wells:

"Community television plays a vital role in our media landscape, providing a platform for diverse voices while supporting local content and creators.

"That's why the government is backing this app with $386,000 in funding which means this community content is now available to all Australians.

"CTV+ will bring community television into the modern streaming era - and literally bring it into high definition - expanding its reach to new audiences right around Australia."

Quotes attributable to Chair of Channel 31 Melbourne & Geelong, Joseph Matina:

"CTV+ marks the next chapter for community television, extending the reach of Channel 31 Melbourne & Geelong and Channel 44 Adelaide well beyond the aerial and into homes across Australia through Smart TVs. It's an exciting step that ensures community TV remains accessible, relevant, and connected to audiences wherever they are.

"We're deeply grateful to the Australian Government for its ongoing support of community television and for recognising the value of platforms like CTV+ in promoting inclusive, grassroots media. This milestone takes us another step closer to a sustainable future for community broadcasting."

Quotes attributable to Chair of Channel 44 Adelaide, Dr Tom Young:

"This expansion helps us re-engage communities, cultural organisations, tertiary institutions and creators in regions that have lost their local community TV service. Through CTV+, we're reigniting a national presence for community television, one that reflects Australia's diversity and fosters new opportunities for local storytelling.

"CTV+ is a vital innovation that connects past, present and future generations of community television audiences and creators. As we celebrate this launch alongside the Antenna Awards, we're reminded of how far community TV has come and how much potential lies ahead as we expand onto Smart TVs nationwide."
