Community Urged to Have Their Say on Bland LEP Review Before Submissions Close

Bland Shire Council is inviting everyone to have their say on the Draft Review of the Bland LEP 2011 Issues Paper and Scoping Report that is currently on public exhibition until 5.00pm on Thursday 25 June 2026.

The Bland LEP 2011 is the statutory planning instrument specifying zoning, permissible land-uses in zones and matters for consideration relating to subdivisions, dwelling-house opportunity, flooding, biodiversity, heritage and other development matters.

Mayor Brian Monaghan said it is important that members of the community take the time to review the Draft Bland LEP 2011 Issues Paper and Scoping Report that is currently on exhibition and provide feedback to Council prior to the close of the exhibition period.

"The Bland LEP affects every resident in Bland Shire, as it determines how our towns and rural areas grow and develop into the future," Mayor Monaghan said.

"This is the community's opportunity to ensure the LEP reflects local needs, values, and priorities. Once submissions close on 25 June, there will be no further opportunity to make changes at this stage of the process."

The Draft Review of the Bland Issues Paper 2011 and Scoping Report investigates a number of important issues facing Bland Shire's future growth and development, including residential zoning for future housing, rural land-use, employment lands and open spaces as well as environmental and infrastructure considerations.

"We want to hear from as many people as possible, whether you're a homeowner, farmer, business operator, or simply someone who cares about the future of our Shire," Mayor Monaghan said.

"Your feedback will directly influence the decisions we make. The more input we receive, the better we can plan for a future that benefits everyone."

Mayor Monaghan also encouraged residents to take advantage of the resources available to help them understand the Bland LEP 2011 and the scope of changes possible under the LEP review process.

"The Draft Review of the Bland LEP 2011 Issues Paper is available on Council's website: www.blandshire.nsw.gov.au for review and download. Hard copies are also available at Council's Customer Service Counter."

Written submissions must be received by the closing deadline.

Following the exhibition period, Council will review all submissions before progressing to the next stage of the LEP process.
