Swan Hill Rural City Council is calling on the community to get behind a number of outstanding local initiatives, with public voting now open in the 2026 National Awards for Local Government.
Council is in the running across multiple categories, highlighting the breadth of work being delivered locally to address key community priorities, celebrate culture and strengthen social connection.
The projects include:
Workforce and Skills
- Leading Housing Challenges Together
- CUC Mallee
Art and Culture
- Our Region, Our Rivers - Two New Buildings
- Swan Hill Harmony Day Celebrations
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Recognition
- Shared Connections Celebrations
Council's Mayor, Cr Stuart King said the national recognition reflects Council's commitment to delivering innovative projects and meaningful outcomes for the municipality.
"To have five local initiatives in the running at a national level is something our entire community can be incredibly proud of.
"These projects represent the very best of what can be achieved when Council works alongside community, partners and local leaders to tackle challenges, celebrate culture and create opportunities.
"From addressing housing and workforce needs, to investing in arts, cultural celebrations and strengthening Aboriginal connections, these nominations tell a powerful story about our region."
