Completion of Gold Coast Schoolies 2019

The official week of Schoolies 2019 concluded this morning with thousands of school leavers enjoying a final night of organised activities in Surfers Paradise.

Overnight there were no major incidents with 5 male schoolies arrested on 13 offences, which were mainly drug offences.

This compares to 18 schoolies for the same final night last year (2018)

There were also 9 non-schoolies arrested on 12 offences, mainly relating to public nuisance and drug offences.

While schoolies has concluded for Queensland school leavers, a large number of interstate schoolies will begin arriving on the Gold Coast and an increased police presence will remain in the Surfers Paradise precinct throughout the next two weeks.

With the majority of interstate schoolies being 18 years of age and over, the policing strategy for the next few weeks will shift towards licensed venues.
