Concerns For Mother And Child Missing From Shellharbour

Police are appealing for information to locate a mother and young child missing from the state's south.

Joelene Brindle, aged 32, and Ma-Thayus Thomas, a 14-month-old boy, were last seen on Sophia Street, Shellharbour, about 7pm on Wednesday 22 October 2025.

When they were unable to be located, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Police and family hold concerns for their welfare due to the child's young age and as the woman lives with a medical condition.

Joelene is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 170cm tall, of thin build, with long black hair usually tied in a high bun with a white bow.

She was last seen wearing a white shirt and green shorts.

Ma-Thayus is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 75cm tall, of medium build, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

Police believe the mother and child are travelling together and may be in Maroubra, Little Bay and Eastern Suburbs area.
