Congratulations to Roller Hawks

Member for Wollongong, Paul Scully, has extended his congratulations to the Wollongong Roller Hawks who claimed an historic three-peat yesterday when they claimed the 2019 National Wheelchair Basketball League championship.

Mr Scully said that Wollongong should be celebrating the continued success of the team.

He has called on Wollongong City Council to fly the Roller Hawks supporters flag or the team colours on the community flagpole in front of Council's Burelli Street offices.

Mr Scully said that such a significant national achievement should warrant consideration of a civic celebration for the team when they return from Brisbane.

"A celebration in the Mall for the players will give them a chance to share their success with the city, with their supporters and sponsors.

"It is not every day that Wollongong has a sporting team that wins a national championship.

"It is certainly not every day that you have a team from Wollongong that wins three national championships in a row", Mr Scully said.

"Wollongong is rightfully proud of the Roller Hawks.

"This is the sixth title they have taken out since they entered the national league in 2001", Mr Scully said.
