Rockhampton Regional Council will commence major construction works at the intersection of East Street and Derby Street from Monday 13 January to upgrade a number of services.
The project will involve the replacement of existing water mains and installation of new stormwater pipes and inlets to improve drainage. Trench excavation for the new stormwater pipes is approximately four metres deep and six metres wide, which will require a road closure at the East and Derby Street intersection.
Installation of the new services is expected to take eight weeks to complete, with further road works to be completed thereafter.
Pedestrian access will be available to all businesses during this time and Council encourages the community to continue supporting their local businesses throughout the duration of works.
