- The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future, and a fresh start for Queensland veterans.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland veterans by launching statewide consultation sessions – commencing today in Townsville – to inform the State's first Veterans and Veterans' Families Strategy.
The strategy will enable the Crisafulli Government to deliver targeted, effective support for veterans and their families in key areas such as transition to civilian life, employment pathways, and health and wellbeing.
In addition to the input from veterans, the Strategy will be informed by the valuable input and expertise of key stakeholders from across the broader community.
Today's Townsville event is the first of 11 face-face-consultations to be held across Queensland with future meetings scheduled for Cairns on 9 October, followed by Brisbane, Emerald, Gold Coast, Hervey Bay, Ipswich, Mackay, Rockhampton, Sunshine Coast, and Toowoomba.
The Crisafulli Government is developing the Queensland Veterans and Veterans' Families Strategy as part of a total $26.4 million allocated in the 2025-26 State Budget to honour and commemorate the contribution of veterans to our nation and to support veterans and their families.
Premier and Minister for Veterans David Crisafulli said the Government was delivering the fresh start Queenslanders voted for, exactly as promised.
"We are delivering Queensland's first Veterans' Strategy to ensure every veteran and their family get the support they deserve," Premier Crisafulli said.
"By listening directly to veterans, their families and the community, we can build a plan that tackles the real issues they face every day – from improving mental health services to helping them transition to civillian life.
"While we are delivering a plan for veterans, there is much more to be done to deliver for Queensland's future, and we remain committed to delivering the fresh start we promised."
Queensland is home to the largest population of veterans in Australia with more than 163,000 current or former Australian Defence Force personnel living across the state.
