Townsville wildfire protection will continue from the end of this week with a controlled burn at Deeragun.
Townsville City Council has scheduled a hazard reduction burn in areas around Geaney Lane and Innes Drive on Friday, August 2 subject to wind conditions.
Experienced Council officers will carry out the work in conjunction with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services to reduce the fire fuel load in the area.
People in the area with medical conditions affected by smoke are encouraged to take precautions on the day.
Local residents are being letterbox dropped with information ahead of the controlled burns.
The annual program is undertaken in favourable weather conditions to reduce fire hazards close to residential areas in the city.
