Convenience store attendant assaulted during robbery at Newtown

A convenience store attendant has been assaulted during a robbery in Sydney's Inner West this morning.

About 5.15am (Friday 13 November 2020), police were called to a convenience store on King Street, Newtown, following reports two males entered the store and threatened the employee.

Police have been told the employee, 23-year-old man, was pushed to the ground and punched several times.

The pair stole cash and cigarettes, before leaving with two other males who were waiting outside.

The attendant did not require medical treatment.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
