Convenience store robbed in Balmain

Police are investigating after a convenience store in Balmain was robbed, NSW Police say.

About 10.20am today, two men, one armed with a saw, entered a convenience store on Mort Street, and threatened the 53-year-old female employee.

The two men ran from the area after obtaining cash and cigarettes.

They were last seen running east along Mort Street.

The female employee did not suffer any injuries and police were called to the location.

Investigators established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the incident.

Officers from Leichhardt Local Area Command would like to speak to two men who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The first man is described as being of Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 20s and with a medium build. He was wearing a blue hooded top, blue pants and trainers. His face was covered with a blue bandana.

The second man is also described as being of Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 20s and with a medium build. He was wearing a white hooded top, cream pants, blue trainers and a blue baseball cap. His face was covered with a red bandana.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
