Copper Theft At Globe Derby Park Intersection

The theft of copper cables from an intersection at Globe Derby Park this morning has resulted in a traffic light blackout.

Just after 5am on Saturday 15 August, copper cables and a junction box were stolen from the intersection of Ryans Road and Port Wakefield Road, Globe Derby Park.

The theft knocked out power to the entire intersection.

CCTV footage revealed a dark sedan stopped at the intersection and an offender wearing a high vis jacket and dark pants stole the cabling.

Anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour or has any dashcam or CCTV footage that may help to identify the vehicle or suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au

Technicians are attending the site to restore power; however, this will take several hours.

Motorists are advised to take care in the area, approach the intersection with caution and normal give way rules apply.

If police or traffic management personnel are directing traffic, look out for their safety and follow their directions.
