Copper Thief Flees At Barker

Police are investigating after a significant quantity of copper cabling was seized at Mount Barker overnight.

Just before 1am on Friday 3 April, patrols spotted a man riding an e‑bike along Heysen Boulevard while dragging a large length of copper cabling behind him, estimated to weigh around 100 kilograms.

When police attempted to stop the rider, he dumped the e‑bike and cabling before fleeing on foot. Officers gave chase and conducted an extensive search of the area, however, the man was not located.

Police are investigating where the copper cabling was stolen from and are making enquiries to identify the rider.
