SYDNEY, Australia — Wednesday 6TH August 2025 —
Coronation Property has taken home the Excellence in Industry Leadership award at The Urban Developer Awards 2025, recognised for its groundbreaking social impact platform, Coronation Cares.
In an industry where leadership is often defined by pipeline and profit, this award signals a new benchmark where the true measure of success is how deeply a developer can improve the lives of the people and communities it builds for.
Launched just over a year ago, Coronation Cares has redefined what giving back looks like in property. The program embeds social impact at every stage of the development lifecycle, from early planning to design, construction and operations. It supports crisis housing, community wellbeing, mental health, affordable housing, and economic inclusion, with a focus on long-term, systemic outcomes. Crucially, it's not treated as CSR. It's embedded in the business model.
"This award matters because it proves that developers can lead with care and still deliver commercial success," said Charlotte Dillon, General Manager of Nation and the driving force behind Coronation Cares. "We didn't want to launch a program that was symbolic. We wanted something that could hold its own in rigour, in scale, and in impact. Social equity should not be optional in how we design cities. It should be built in."
Under Charlotte's leadership, Coronation Cares has activated projects across Western Sydney and inner-city precincts, from refurbishing crisis accommodation for women and children in St Peters, to delivering mental health partnerships with Beyond Blue and employment pathways through Habitat for Humanity. The program also ensures that at least 10% of Coronation's portfolio supports affordable housing, a target that is being operationalised, not just promised.
For Joseph Nahas, Managing Director of Coronation Property, the award is about more than recognition. It's about setting precedent.
"Our industry is at an inflection point," said Nahas. "We can keep doing what's always been done, or we can choose to lead differently. Coronation Cares is about showing that housing can be a platform for dignity, stability, and progress. And that's a legacy worth building."
The judging panel praised Coronation's approach, calling it a standout example of what private sector leadership can look like when it moves beyond transactional metrics to drive real community value.
As the housing crisis deepens and ESG demands grow, Coronation's win sends a clear message to the property sector: the developers of the future won't just be measured by what they build, but by who they empower in the process.
