Campaspe Shire Council is proud to announce the formal adoption of the Community Vision 2040 and the Council and Wellbeing Plan 2025-2029. The Council and Wellbeing Plan is a comprehensive roadmap to guide the Shire's growth, prosperity, and community wellbeing over the next four years. Following an extensive period of community and stakeholder consultation, the Council and Wellbeing Plan 2025-2029 integrates the Council Plan and Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan and, and sets out four strategic priorities set by the Councillors, which include:
- Revitalising Assets and Infrastructure
Council will invest in local infrastructure to meet current needs and support future growth. Key actions include progressing the Aquatics Strategy, improving safety and infrastructure along the Northern Highway, and finalising the Rochester Flood Study and Mitigation Plan.
- Accelerating Economic Development
The Plan supports Shire-wide growth by partnering with industry, activating key visitor precincts, and developing a regional strategy to position Campaspe as a great place to live, work, and invest.
- Invigorating Public Spaces
The Plan aims to make public spaces more vibrant, accessible, and connected by delivering key strategies, expanding events and festivals, upgrading areas such as Jaycee Park in Kyabram, and collaborating with First Peoples on land and water management.
- Enhancing Community Capacity and Wellbeing
Council will deepen community and stakeholder engagement by building capacity for active participation, understanding local needs, advocating on key issues, and empowering meaningful input into decision-making.
Embedded into the Plan is the long-term Campaspe Community Vision 2040, shaped by the inaugural Citizens' Panel, held in March. The renewed Community Vision 2040 is:
"Our Campaspe is welcoming, inclusive and diverse.
Our people are supportive, resilient and thriving.
Our places are vibrant, healthy and sustainable.
Stronger together, like the three rivers flowing through our Shire."
Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Daniel Mackrell celebrated the adoption of the Community Vision and Council and Wellbeing Plan.
"We are committed to delivering on the community's vision, fostering a resilient, inclusive, and thriving region.
"Together with my fellow councillors, we are proud to introduce this plan we've crafted with, and for, our community.
"The plan reflects the aspirations of the Campaspe community, developed through an extensive engagement program.
"Over the past nine months, we've delivered a comprehensive engagement program, including public exhibitions, roadshows, and collaborative sessions with a diverse range of community stakeholders" he said.
The draft plan was open for comment in July and August and received strong support. Community feedback led to notable amendments, including stronger references to cultural values, climate change impacts to health, and arts and culture initiatives.
"Councillors have deliberated on the strategies and key initiatives, incorporating the consultation and feedback received from our constituents.
"The Council and Wellbeing Plan 2025-2029 will guide the next four years' decision-making, resource allocation, and partnerships to ensure a flourishing future for all residents," said the mayor.
