Moira Shire Council has officially adopted the Moira2045 Community Vision, a forward-thinking roadmap shaped by the voices of the community.

The vision was shaped by an 18-member Community Panel, recruited through an expression of interest process. Over several months, the panel engaged in workshops, reviewed community feedback, and deliberated on the region's opportunities and challenges.

The vision is based on a central statement, developed in consultation with the community: "By 2045 we will be a thriving, connected regional community."

It is built around four key themes that reflect the community's priorities and aspirations:

  • Community – Welcoming, connected, informed and engaged communities with inclusive, safe and sustainable spaces.
  • Environment – Sustainable agriculture, healthy waterways, and a circular economy powered by renewable energy.
  • Liveability – Digitally connected communities, accessible transport, and vibrant community facilities.
  • Prosperity – Strong local enterprises, year-round tourism, and expanded education and employment opportunities.

Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM said the Vision will shape the region's growth and direction over the next 20 years.

"The Vision will be a key document that guides our planning and decision-making for Council over the next 20 years and has been a significant driver in the development of the Council Plan 2025-29 and Council's other long-term strategies," Dr Emonson said.

The Moira2045 Community Vision is available on Council's website.
