Council took Latrobe City's voice directly to Spring Street to advocate for the priorities that matter most to our community during a recent visit to State Government.
Attending Parliament House as part of the 2025 State Delegation, Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman, Deputy Mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson and Chief Executive Officer, Steven Piasente, attended a range of meetings where they strongly advocated for support to advance our 2025-26 Advocacy Agenda - with a focus on economic diversification, local jobs and infrastructure that supports growth and liveability and community safety.
Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman said this Delegation was an important part of Council's Advocacy Agenda.
"Meeting with Government Ministers and officials meant we could share projects from our region and really highlight their importance to key decision-makers," said the Mayor.
"Council is calling on the Victorian Government to invest in a range of projects and priorities that will help our community thrive.
"These meetings are a critical part of Council's broader advocacy efforts to ensure Latrobe City's unique challenges and opportunities are understood and most importantly supported - at the highest levels of decision-making.
"We thank all Parliamentarians who took the time to engage with us and will continue to work with both Government and Opposition to deliver real outcomes for the people of Latrobe City."
Council met with a broad cross-section of Government and Opposition members including Ministers for Local Government, Environment, Agriculture, Community Sport, Police and Community Safety, Housing, Industry, Tourism and TAFE. Council also hosted a productive roundtable discussion with key Opposition representatives to ensure bipartisan awareness of our region's needs.
Following the Delegation, the Hon Colin Brooks, Minister for Industry and Advanced Manufacturing, toured the Latrobe Regional Airport and heard about Council's ambitious plan to build a dedicated Advanced Air Manufacturing facility.
Council also met with the Hon Lily D'Ambrosio Minister for Climate Action, Energy and Resources and State Electricity Commission to advocate for a local supply chain and jobs quota as part of the energy transition.
