Council and Create NSW collaborate on grant advice for creatives - Wollongong

Council's Small Cultural Grant applications are open!

To support local creatives to put their best application forward, Council is hosting an online information session this Thursday 24 February, as part of Wollongong City Council's Creative Dialogues program.

The session is in partnership with Create NSW with Wollongong City Council's Cultural Development Coordinator Sam Crosby presenting an overview of who can apply, as well as the types of projects that have the most success in securing grant funding.

Council's Small Cultural Grants program has been running for more than 15 years, and seeks to provide a financial boost to activities that enliven the city, build our local creative industries and encourage people to get involved in our creative community.

Applications are open until 31 March 2022 and can focus on a wide range of activities like music, performing arts, visual arts and craft and cultural projects.

"We know our creative community have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic over the past two years,'' Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

"We have been there for our creatives throughout this time and this grants program is part of our ongoing support we have offered our talented and diverse community. I'd encourage anyone who is interested to join the online meeting and get the inside track on what to do to make their application stand out.''

Joining Ms Crosby at the session will be Brianna Munting from Create NSW who will present on current and upcoming opportunities and eligibility for state funding.

"We're really keen to foster an awareness in our community of the wide range of opportunities that are open to them for funding. It might have been a tough few years, but they're not alone,'' Cr Bradbery said.

"Council is one channel for support, but the NSW State Government is also targeting a range of sectors including the creative community. This is a great opportunity to hear from both Council and Create NSW about what is out there and available at this time.''

The interactive session runs from 6-7pm on Thursday 24 February and people can include any specific questions when booking their free ticket through Eventbrite.

If you can't make it, Council will also make a recording of the session available through our website.
