Port Macquarie Hastings Council has announced the appointment of Ben Wood as its new Director Community Infrastructure, who commenced in the role earlier this month following a competitive recruitment process.
General Manager Robert Fish said Mr Wood brings extensive executive and senior management experience in local government, with a strong background in engineering leadership.
"Ben is an experienced engineering leader with significant local government expertise, most recently serving as a Director Community Infrastructure at Baw Baw Shire Council in Victoria," Mr Fish said.
"He brings a natural passion for people and community, and I am confident he will be an excellent fit with the Community Infrastructure management team and the broader organisation as we move forward.
Mr Wood said he was excited to be joining Port Macquarie Hastings Council and contributing to the delivery of infrastructure that supports the needs of the community.
"I am deeply passionate about the role Council plays in providing services and infrastructure that are essential for well-functioning, healthy and vibrant communities," Mr Wood said.
"This is an amazing part of our wonderful country, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to help enhance how we support the Port Macquarie Hastings community, and to be a part of the amazing team here at Council."
The Director Community Infrastructure was vacated by Mr Fish in November, when he was appointed General Manager.
Mr Fish acknowledged the contribution of Blayne West, who acted in the Director Community Infrastructure role for much of 2025.
