Council approves new section of Sidlaw Street

Council has approved the construction of a new section of McGregor Road, between Sidlaw Street and Smithfield Village Drive, Smithfield.

The $4.34 million, four-lane road is identified in the Local Government Infrastructure Plan as part of Council's planned trunk road network improvements.

Once complete, the sub-arterial road will provide a safer, higher capacity road link between the existing McGregor Road, east of the Captain Cook Highway, and the residential areas of Smithfield Village.

The works also include the construction of a water main as part of a plan to provide an alternative water source to Yorkeys Knob.

The project is expected to commence in July 2019 and be completed by February 2020.
