Griffith City Council has formally endorsed the paid parking fee schedule for the new ticketless parking system at Griffith Regional Airport.
Council resolved at the Council meeting in April 2025 to introduce a Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) ticketless paid parking system with three lanes and card-only payment. In August 2025, Council appointed SKIDATA to supply and install the system, which is now under construction and expected to be operational in the coming months.
At the meeting on Tuesday 27 January 2026, Council adopted the parking fee schedule that will apply once the system is commissioned. The fees will also be incorporated into Council's Revenue Policy for the 2026/27 financial year.
The endorsed parking fees for the Griffith Regional Airport car park are:
- 0 to 60 minutes, free
- Hourly rate, $2.50
- Daily rate, $12.00 per 24 hours
- Weekly rate, $65.00
Airport users will have 20 minutes to exit the car park after making payment at the automated pay station located within the terminal building.
Hire car operators will continue to operate under individual lease agreements. Any vehicles exceeding agreed allocations will be charged in line with the standard parking fee schedule.
The adopted fees have been benchmarked against parking charges at comparable regional airports including Wagga Wagga, Albury and Dubbo, with Griffith's rates remaining competitive and offering a free first hour for short stays.
The implementation of a fair and transparent parking fee structure is essential to ensuring airport operating costs, future upgrades and regulatory requirements can be managed responsibly without placing additional pressure on the General Fund.
