Council Approves Sale Of Vacant Corio Property

Council has approved the sale of 59 Bacchus Marsh Road, Corio, following a review of its suitability for ongoing community use.

The site, measuring approximately 655m2, was previously used as a Meals on Wheels distribution centre, becoming vacant in February 2022 when the service model changed to a centralised distribution.

Due to the building's classification and limited size, the site has reduced potential for alternative community uses and is not considered feasible for upgrade or repurposing. Therefore, the site is considered surplus to the City's requirements.

A community consultation period ran from June to July 2025, during which four submissions were received.

Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM

We've carefully considered the future of this site and determined that it no longer meets the needs of our services or the community.

We're committed to ensuring public assets deliver real value.

Chair of City Planning portfolio Councillor Andrew Katos

This site has served its purpose, and it's time to look ahead to better ways of supporting our community.
