Council calling for local stars to shine in C2 sessions

Council is throwing open the doors for talented locals to showcase their skills at Townsville Civic Theatre's blackbox venue, C2 for C2 Sessions starting Saturday 6 May.

Townsville Civic Theatre is giving local musicians, artists, performers and more a platform to perform in their new series, C2 Sessions.

This Council initiative is open for anyone to be involved in and the team is currently looking for local bands, musicians, comedians, dancers, drag acts, plays and more to hit the C2 stage.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney encouraged any interested parties to reach out to the theatre team and make the most of this fantastic opportunity.

"This is a platform for emerging and established artists to perform in front of a crowd who are wanting a good night out full of local variety and flavour," Cr Greaney said.

"Family and friends can also come along to cheer their loved ones on as they showcase their talents.

"Council offers numerous programs activities and grants to support, showcase, and develop the arts each year in Townsville with $39.5 million invested in events, arts, community facilities, culture and community programs in our last budget.

"This is just one example of the sorts of opportunities Council makes available to people who are interested in growing in this space."

Council will help promote the C2 Sessions by sending out a program of acts and performances closer to each date.

"Townsville is committed to being a sustainable destination that embraces and participates in the arts, sports, events and recreational activities," Cr Greaney said.
