Council Condemns Vandalism At Hurstville Golf Course

Georges River Council

Georges River Council is calling on the community to help protect public assets after repeated incidents of vandalism at Hurstville Golf Course. E-bikes have recently caused significant damage to several putting greens.

The most recent damage has affected the fourth, fifth, eighth, ninth and 14th greens. This has impacted course conditions and the experience of golfers and other visitors. Council is still assessing the full extent of the damage and the cost of repairs.

Bicycles, e-bikes and other unauthorised wheeled recreational devices are not permitted on the playing areas of Hurstville Golf Course. These areas are reserved for authorised users and approved activities, with public access limited to designated pathways.

Council is also taking steps to reduce future incidents. This includes installing new "No E-Bikes or E-Scooters" signs around the course and exploring additional monitoring and security measures.

Mayor Elise Borg said the repeated damage was disappointing and placed an unnecessary burden on the community.

"Hurstville Golf Course is an important community asset enjoyed by residents and visitors throughout the year," Mayor Borg said.

"It is frustrating to see repeated acts of vandalism damage a facility that so many people value."

"The impact is not just financial. Repairing damaged greens takes time and affects the condition of the course for everyone who uses it."

"We're asking everyone who visits the course to respect the facility and help us protect it for the community."

Anyone who witnesses vandalism or suspicious behaviour at Hurstville Golf Course is encouraged to contact NSW Police on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
