MidCoast Council has elected Cr Alan Tickle as Mayor and re-elected Cr Jeremy Miller as Deputy Mayor at today's Ordinary Council Meeting.
Outgoing Mayor Cr Claire Pontin will continue to serve the community as a Councillor.
Council extends its sincere thanks to Cr Pontin for her dedicated leadership and service as Mayor. First elected to Council in 2017 and elected Mayor in January 2022, October 2023 and October 2024. Cr Pontin has made a significant contribution to the MidCoast community throughout her time as Mayor. This has included supporting the region through natural disasters and recovery, securing funding for major infrastructure and recovery projects, including successfully advocating for funding to replace Wingham Pool and a large road repair package, and representing the region's interests at state and federal levels.
Council congratulates Cr Tickle and Cr Miller on their appointments and looks forward to their leadership over the next two years.
