A roadmap providing the long-term direction for Logan City Council's community infrastructure provision for the next 20 years has been approved.
The Community Infrastructure Strategy (CIS) 2019-2041 identifies where, when and how community facilities should be provided in the City of Logan to meet current and anticipated future community needs.
It will provide direction to Council and other stakeholders on the planning, provision and investment in Council-owned community infrastructure up to 2041.
The long-term CIS includes a program of infrastructure projects to meet community needs over the next 20 years.
These projects range from preliminary investigations and planning studies to upgrades of existing facilities or development of new community infrastructure.
The CIS will also feature an annual action plan, determined by corporate and community priorities along with Council's annual budget considerations and available resources.
Council will now consult and work with the community on the implementation of the CIS.
Council's Community Services Director Katie Barton-Harvey said the new strategy identified some key shifts in how Council would plan and provide community infrastructure.
"The adoption of the CIS signals a clear commitment to working more collaboratively with other stakeholders to deliver vital community infrastructure for the City of Logan," Ms Barton-Harvey said.
"This is a critical first step in proactively planning for community infrastructure to support the long-term needs of our growing community.
"This plan will ensure our residents have access to a wide range of community facilities, services and networks that meet their needs over the next 20 years."
