Camden Council has launched its new Local Heritage Grants program, offering funding to support the restoration and maintenance of local heritage across the Local Government Area.

The program aims to support works that contribute to the good management and conservation of heritage.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the new grants program would provide practical support to help protect and enhance the area's rich heritage.

"Camden has a proud and diverse history, and this program is about ensuring we continue to protect and celebrate the places and stories that shape our identity," she said.

"These grants will provide financial incentives for minor heritage works, helping property owners undertake projects that align with Council's heritage policies and deliver broader community benefit."

The Local Heritage Grants program has officially opened today (Monday 23 February) and will offer small grants for eligible works throughout 2026.

To be eligible, projects must generally align with works permitted under a development application (DA) exemption for minor heritage works or have an existing DA consent at the time of application. Key requirements include:

• Applicants must not have received another grant for the heritage works on the same property in

the past year;

• Proposals must align with Council's heritage policies and objectives; and

• Grant recipients must provide an equal or greater monetary contribution toward the project.

Applications received by Wednesday 31 March will be assessed collectively, with the applications continuing to be accepted on an ad-hoc basis until funding has been exhausted.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome within at least 30 working days of submitting their application.

The program is funded in part through a $25,000 allocation from the NSW Government's 2025-27 Local Government Heritage Grants program, which Council formally accepted in August 2025.
