Rockhampton Regional Council is continuing its investment in local infrastructure with a major road reconstruction project in Park Avenue.

The works, part of Council's broader Capital Works Program, will deliver essential upgrades to improve safety, drainage, and accessibility for the community.

The $1.69 million project will be delivered in stages along Main Street and Haynes Street, and includes:

  • Stormwater drainage upgrades to reduce pooling and erosion
  • Replacement of kerb and channel, footpaths, and a water main
  • Asphalt overlay and line marking for improved road surface
  • Upgraded pedestrian crossing to enhance safety and accessibility

Construction started on Sunday 21 September 2025, with completion expected by March 2026, subject to weather and ground conditions.

Works will be staged to minimise disruption, with temporary speed reductions, road closures, detours, and traffic control measures in place.

Some works will be scheduled during school holidays to reduce traffic impacts, and detours will be implemented for larger vehicles to avoid residential streets.

This project is one of many being delivered across the region under Council's Capital Works Program, aimed at building a more resilient and connected road network for Rockhampton.
