Council releases Draft Public Toilet Policy for exhibition

Greater Shepparton City Council adopted the Public Toilet Policy and released the draft Strategy for public exhibition and comment at the December Ordinary Council Meeting.

The draft Strategy will open for comment for a period of 28 days, from 13 January 2020 until on 10 February 2020.

The Public Toilet Policy was last adopted by Council in 2013.

Changes to the document are aimed at clarification, making the document more concise and also recognising the existence of the supporting Strategy.

The Strategy includes a capital replacement and refurbishment plan, which provides operational level information, a long-term outline of proposed capital improvements and also informs future annual budget provisions.

This Policy will guide the provision and management of public toilets with respect to:

  • Siting and distribution
  • Accessibility
  • Quality and service levels
  • Public safety
  • Service Communication

The Strategy will focus on appropriate, achievable and cost effective ways in which Council's public toilets can be improved, including:

  • Location
  • Safety
  • Universal access
  • Quality
  • Cleaning and maintenance
  • Environmental sustainability
