Council responds to housing market

Housing options

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has approved a Development Application to enable 190 new homes to be built in Meringandan West.

Situated along the Goombungee-Meringandan Road, TRC Planning and Development Committee Chair Cr Megan O'Hara Sullivan said the development would help address the housing shortages being experienced.

"We understand there are challenges with housing availability and are responding as best we can," she said.

"This application will support further growth in this part of our Region.

"The approved development provides a mix of lots to support greater diversity of housing choice in this area. It is expected to be delivered across four stages that will include new roads and drainage lots."

The approved development will incorporate street tree plantings and a network of pedestrian paths along internal roads to create a high-quality streetscape.
