Townsville City Council's Animal Shelter has been closed and animals are being relocated due to flooded roads around the shelter and potential flooding of some animal pens.
The animals are being moved to a secure shelter – unaffected by local flooding – where they will continue to be provided with the highest standard of care by TCC shelter staff.
To ensure the safety and welfare of Council staff and the animals, the shelter in Shaw has been temporarily closed.
Council is reminding motorists not to drive through flooded roads and to drive to the conditions.
