On Monday 16 July, pLATFORM Youth Theatre was thrilled to receive a $250 donation from Murrindindi Beanie Festival.

The donation will go towards workshops and performing arts equipment for the youth theatre group.

Murrindindi Shire Council has been running pLATFORM Youth Theatre in Yea for the last 18-months to increase the opportunity for young people to participate arts and cultural activities locally.

Youth, Recreation and Community Planning Portfolio Councillor, Charlie Bisset said programs like pLATFORM Youth Theatre support young people to develop self-confidence, learn new skills and grow their community networks.

"On 24 June, pLATFORM participants hosted some 50 community members at the Yea Service Centre's 'pop up cinema' for the screening of their debut short film, 'Pets'," Cr Bisset said.

"The 'Pets' film featured interviews with Yea residents about the importance of pets in their lives, and the screening event raised $90 for Coldstream Animal Aid.

"How wonderful it is to see community groups supporting each other! A big thank you to the Beanie Festival for their generosity.
